Makaila & Jon | Auberge West Brome
It’s not very often I get to go home to Quebec and shoot a wedding in this absolutely beautiful province. Makaila and Jon’s wedding was a DREAM. First of all, has anyone ever heard of such beautiful weather in November? Yes it was cold, don’t get me wrong. But the landscape was incredible and the lighting was perfect. The entire day the sun was just barely poking through the clouds, giving us a beautiful overcast sky to work with. Makaila and Jon were absolute troopers, I felt like I had known them forever and we were just hanging out at Auberge West Brome for the afternoon! (Secret: I knew these two when they were kids but hadn’t seen them since I moved away 10+ years ago.) It was sooo special to be a part of their day after such a long time.
I wouldn’t be a true photographer if I didn’t talk about golden hour. We really weren’t sure if we were going to get a sunset in the end but as we were driving to the ceremony, the sun came out from behind the clouds and it was fire! We immediately pulled over on the side of the road and parked in a farmers field to capture our last portraits of the day. (We won’t talk about how one of us stepped in something terrible smelling in order to get these photographs. To this day I’m still not certain which one of us it was).
What a day for the books. I could’ve danced all night if I had worn the proper footwear earlier and hadn’t destroyed my feet yet again.
Makaila and Jon, you are adorable. I wish you all the best.
